| Summary: | This Celestia add-on provides a realistic rendering of the Milky Way as seen from the vicinity of our solar system. |
| Description: | The effect is achieved by a simple spherical model. This sphere is centered at the solar system barycenter and has 10 light years in diameter. The effect only makes sense in the neighborhood of the solar system, so there is no point in making it bigger. Besides, with such a small model, one can still enjoy the standard "blobs" rendering of the Milky Way when the viewpoint is far away. |

This is a great add-on, the only con is that it doesn't show up properly on stars farther away than about 20 ly from The Sun, but it's still eye candy. Thanks!!

Never mind. I figured it out. It looks like the textures were too big for my graphics card. It works if I make them smaller.

I can't get this to work on the Mac PPC version of Celestia 1.6.1. I have it in the Extras folder and have Nebulae and Galaxies enabled. The view of Milky Way from Earth is unchanged.
