Saturn: Moons:
|
Summary: | The grayscale surface of Enceladus as seen from Cassini/Voyager missions, including colorizing textures. |
Description: | Alternate surface map of Saturn's moon Enceladus (available by right click), originating from Cassini Solstice Mission, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology. The mosaic shows global map of Saturn's icy moon Enceladus, created using images taken during Cassini spacecraft flybys. The map also contains one image from NASA's Voyager 2 spacecraft, which visited Enceladus in August 1981. That image fills in the top left of the map from 90 degrees north down to as low as 50 degrees north in places. Visit the source page for more detailed information. The package contains three types of textures: - 8k grayscale (B&W) texture of moon's surface taken during misions. - 2k original surface color map. - Overlay texture adding colors to grayscale texture. It is far from exact match, more like "artist's concept". Colorizing texture was made form original mission color map. |
