| Description: | This add-on is a representation of the Mariner 9 mission which was the first successful orbiter to map the entire surface of the planet Mars. It performed its mapping function from November 14th, 1971 until October 27th, 1972, when it was finally switched off. Mariner 9 also sent back close-up pictures of Mars' two moons, Phobos and Deimos.
The spacecraft still remains in orbit around Mars to this very day, and should stay there for another 50 years at least. This version of the model features an updated Low -gain antenna. To install in Celestia, just follow Terrier's excellent instructions. These are contained in his MARINER 9 INSTRUCTIONS.txt file.
